Efstathiou confirmed that the club would additionally oppose the PSL’s application for leave to appeal the ruling made by Judge Denise Fisher in the Tendai Ndoro arbitration matter.
Briefly.co.za gathered that the PSL announced last week that it would appeal the ruling as a matter of urgency. PSL chairman Irvin Khoza also said the PSL’s Board of Governors and executive committee had decided that the new season would start as scheduled and nothing would interfere with that process.
Efstathiou said the PSL was trying to pressure his club into chasing the situation by appealing the matter and declaring that the season would start on time.
TimesLive.co.za reported that Efstathiou said he regretted having to take the current course of action which threatened to throw South African football into chaos.
He said he had requested a meeting with the PSL in which the parties could settle their grievances away from the courts, but this request was rejected.
